Intense Pulsed Light (laser hair reduction and photofacials)

Intense Pulsed Light is a treatment that can be used to get rid of unwanted hair (except for white hair), ingrown hairs, rosacea, port wine stains, hemangiomas, freckles and skin darkening, sun damage, wrinkles, scars, and acne.

A photofacial is a 30-minute procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deep into the skin. IPL™ photorejuvenation then causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The procedure involves only minimal discomfort, while the redness and swelling that sometimes occur after treatment disappear shortly. Most benefits of a photofacial occur gradually in the weeks following treatment.

IPL™ photorejuvenation can be used to treat redness caused by acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and facial veins, as well as the fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging or sun damage. And if your skin has been discolored as a result of smoking, alcohol use, or hormonal changes, an IPL™ photofacial can smooth and refine your complexion. However, certain factors, including dark or deeply tanned skin, may make certain people ineligible for IPL ™. In consultation with Dr. Koch or one of our certified clinical aestheticians, patients will be able to determine whether they are good candidates for photorejuvenation.
