Brenda's Story: Clear Skin at Last

At Koch Facial Plastic Surgery & Spa, we like to stay on the leading edge of advancements in the cosmetic surgery and skin care world. In 2015, we offered trial of a treatment similar to a chemical peel at our Des Moines practice. Sometimes referred to as the Melanage Peel, we call our version of this procedure the Koch Signature Melasma-Like Pigmentation Treatment. Treating sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and melasma-like blemishes on all skin types, this superficial, non-heat-producing peel is designed to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin. Below, read the story and see the results of one of our happy participants, Brenda.

A Potential Solution

Brenda came to Koch Facial Plastic Surgery & Spa after a couple of years of noticing dark spots on her face that wouldn't fade, even with medication from her family doctor. She was embarrassed by the appearance of her face and was hoping to be able to somehow correct it.

She started with peels by a variety of manufacturers. They showed little progress. It was a start, she said, but a very slow process. She was hoping to have seen results sooner.

Then, we called Brenda and asked her to participate in a trial for a specialized peel designed specifically for hyperpigmentation and melasma-like lesions.

"I never hesitated," Brenda said. "Again because I was very embarrassed by the spots that were still on my face, I would have done anything to get rid of them."

The Treatment Process

On March 11, 2015, Brenda came to our office and had her masque applied. Every step of the process was clearly explained. She would wear the masque throughout the day, then wash it off and apply a variety of products at home in the days ahead.

She says the treatment never hurt at all: "There was a tiny bit of tingling, but nothing like a traditional chemical peel. It was a little embarrassing on the ride home, but I made it."

The cream we applied stayed smooth the entire time it was on Brenda's face that day; it never set up hard like some other masques. She cleaned it off with the cleanser we supplied in her kit at 6 p.m. that night. She reports that her face was a little red, but she wasn't going anywhere, so it was fine. She also applied anti-redness soothing balm afterward, along with intensive soothing complex. The next morning, she again cleaned her face with cleanser and applied anti-redness soothing balm, intensive soothing complex, and sunscreen before applying makeup.

The peeling started the next night, so by Friday morning it was pretty evident, but Brenda still went to work. She says she had significant peeling. But was it worth it?

Brenda's Impressive Results

Even just 2 weeks after having her treatment done, Brenda said, she could see some big changes already as her spots began to fade.

Five weeks later, Brenda said, "I'm very, very pleased with the results. I had significant change in the color and texture of my skin and feel so much better about my complexion. I feel like it even helped with some of the wrinkles and that I appear to have much younger-looking skin."

Brenda was one of several patients who had great success during our trial, prompting us to begin offering the treatment on a wider scale.

"Koch would be crazy for not offering this treatment to their patients!" Brenda said. "This is by far the best treatment I've had done. It was much better than all of the previous treatments I had. I would highly recommend this treatment to any patients looking for quick, aggressive results in getting rid of dark spots and sun damage, and to give them younger-looking skin."

Brenda said she knew her skin would continue to improve over time and that she was excited to see the results. As for her time with our team, she was very satisfied and planned to return.

"I would like to thank my aesthetician, Ellen, and the whole practice for allowing me to take part in the Koch Signature Melasma-Like Pigmentation Treatment trial," she said. "I definitely owe Ellen and Koch for changing my life and giving me back younger, healthier-looking skin."

The Koch Signature Melasma-Like Pigmentation Treatment has shown remarkable results in the treatment of melasma and typically is performed only once, although it can be repeated annually. Treatment includes a one-time masque application, performed in our office, and a skin care regimen patients follow at home to continue the treatment.

For a limited time, this treatment is available at an introductory price of $675 (a $875 value). Call (515) 277-5555 to schedule your complimentary consultation.
