Blonde woman trying on jeans after CoolSculpting treatment.

Most women have their favorite pair of jeans that they keep tucked in a bottom drawer with hopes of pulling them on again after getting rid of some stubborn bulges. That may even be a resolution you made for the new year. One way we can help you get back into those jeans is with CoolSculpting® at our West Des Moines medical spa.

CoolSculpting combined with lifestyle changes can help put the finishing touches on losing the last bit of weight that even hours at the gym can’t seem to reduce. In this blog post, I’ll provide some tips to help you trim weight and describe how CoolSculpting can contour your body.

Beyond Exercise and Dieting

Regular exercise and eating a healthy diet are the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. But for busy women who may not be able to fit exercise into their schedules as often as they’d like, there are some other ways to avoid weight gain.

Regular sleep schedule: Research shows that getting enough sleep and having consistent sleeps schedules are directly related to maintaining a healthy weight. “Eating less and moving more” is obviously important for weight loss, but the lack of adequate sleep can undermine your other good habits. Lack of sleep triggers hunger and makes you less likely to hit the gym. Subsequently, reduced exercise makes it harder to get a good night’s sleep, and then the cycle continues.

Drink water: Perhaps I should say, drink more water, because most people don’t drink enough water throughout the day. Drinking water helps suppress your appetite and can help your body burn more calories. Hydration also helps during exercise by reducing fatigue. The specific amount of water you should drink varies from person to person, but having water handy throughout the day is a good habit.

External motivators: Some people find it helpful to have a friend help them keep track of their goals. A little friendly motivation to keep up the good work can go a long way. Or you can take a high-tech approach by using an app that monitors your daily exercise and calories. Setting realistic goals will help you from getting discouraged.

Don’t worry about the scale: Monitoring each pound that you lose isn’t very fun and doesn’t really help you lose weight.

Nonsurgical Body Contouring

CoolSculpting isn’t a shortcut for weight loss, but it can help you tone certain areas of the body that store fat and create unsightly bulges. For men and women within 10 pounds of their ideal weight, CoolSculpting is a great solution to tone thighs or reduce love handles or belly fat. CoolSculpting doesn’t require downtime, and most patients see the desired results after 1 or 2 treatment sessions. It’s completely non-invasive, so there are no incisions or injections.

If you’re considering CoolSculpting, you can learn more about the treatment on our website or contact us using the online form to request a consultation. You can also call us at (515) 277-5555 to schedule an appointment.
